1991 They
bravely
served
our
country Giving
more
than
ever
asked Leaving
fathers,
mothers,
sons
and
daughters Praying
their
hitch
would
soon
be
past In
every
U.S.
Branch
they
served Fighting
fearless
to
keep
us
free For
the
blood
they
shed,
the
time
they
gave Eternally
grateful...
we
will
always
be God
sent
His
only
Son At
the
cross
He set
us
free It
was
the
Father's
will To
bring
freedom,
hope And
life
eternally Our
forefathers
had a
vision Modeled
after
God's
own
plan To
send
their
sons
and
daughters To
keep
free
our
fruited
land With
pride
we
wave
Old
Glory Honoring
warriors
of the
past Putting
our
hand
upon
our
heart Standing
silent,
true
and
fast Memories
are
remembered
Near
the
graves
of
yesterday Knowing
without
question The
price
our
soldiers
had to
pay They
fought
and
died
for
you
and
me Not
because
they
had
to... But
because
they
felt
they
must Give
their
life
to
service,
For
their
country,
In God

Graceland
Cemetery Marion
County,
Iowa The
depths
of
this
very
cemetery
hold
both
my
Grandfathers. My
Grandmothers
lay
beside
their
men in
silence. Many
of
their
friends
that
fought
and
died
in
W.W.
I, lay
here
too. My
father
and my
father's
younger
brother,
along
with
their friends
of
W.W.II
are
also
buried
here. On
Dutch
soil,
my
wife's
father
watched
in
horror, as
the
Nazis
marched
through,
he too
lays
here. My
uncles,
one a
medic,
one
with
the
infantry and
their
G.I.
buddies
all
lay
here
under
the
oaks. My
wife
and I
too,
have
friends
buried
here the
last
sunset
they
saw,
set
over
Viet
Nam. My
only
brother
is
buried
along
side
my Dad
near
the
old
pine. My
sister's
baby
lies
in a
small
grave
to the
west. We
wept
for
her,
as we
did
for
all
the
rest. We
honor
our
God,
we
honor
our
country
We
honor
our
living,
We
honor
our
dead. We
proudly
raise
the
flag,
as
somber
prayers
are
said. We
love,
we
cherish,
we
remember,
we
mourn.... We
go
on. Doug
